Biography
Dr. Kourosh Dini is a ground-breaking psychiatric specialist of children, adolescents and adults with a vibrant practice in the metropolitan Chicago area.
Throughout his years of practice and medical training, he met both those who played games well and those who played problematically. He also learned that differentiating between the two is not always a simple, observable task. In essence, this book is the culmination of both his years of working with clients and playing games himself.
The rapidly changing and increasingly complex gaming topic was a focus in his fellowship training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Chicago. Dr. Dini grew up with video games as they have evolved since the 80’s in both difficulty and depth.
Having explored games such as World of Warcraft, Half-Life and Doom, and many others, he intimately examines computer and video game play from the perspective of a practicing psychiatrist, from the unique first-person player perspective, and from the third person observer of the gaming interaction.
Dr. Dini maintains an acclaimed and distinguished position as a pioneer of virtually broadcast digital music in the virtual and online world as Kourosh Eusebio, and he has been voted Citizen of the Week by Second Life’s media magazine, Metaverse Messenger. He also performs live for numerous charity events including those benefiting Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society, and continues therapeutic training at the Chicago Institute for Psychoanalysis.
